BLAKE BURLEY
Student Body President
Blake is a junior majoring in Government and Philosophy. He is a graduate of Texoma Christian School in Sherman, Texas.

With both parents and his one older brother having attended Baylor, Blake was thrilled to break the tradition and head to the University of Texas. Upon his arrival, Blake joined Beta Upsilon Chi Fraternity and served as the Pledge Class President. Additionally, he worked on the Executive Team of Campus Men’s Initiative where he helped plan and execute bi-semester events for the purpose of unifying different groups on campus. At the end of his freshman year, Blake spent the summer as a camp counselor at Kanakuk Kamps in Branson, Missouri.

As a sophomore, Blake served as both a member of the Standards and Bylaws Committee of BYX and as an Assistant Pledge Trainer. Leading service projects to provide homeless men and women with meals exposed Blake to life outside of the Forty Acres. Blake also began to work within Student Government as the Leadership and Service Policy Director.

Blake is a member of the honorary student service organization, Silver Spurs. During the membership process of Silver Spurs, Blake spent much of his time caring for the new BEVO XV and tutoring students in Title I schools through the Neighborhood Longhorns Program.
Blake’s experiences in college have brought to light both the best and the worst of Texas. Too much time has been wasted on insignificant matters at the expense of dealing with real issues facing real students—we have lost our voice and lost our unity.
Among a campus of different and diverse longhorns, he will ensure that everyone has an absolutely equal voice.
